Ur Late

Privacy policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

Ur Late keeps track of who kept whom waiting, in minutes. To do that, we need to know a little about you and the people you keep track of. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Ur Late is run by [operator’s legal name and postal address, to be added before launch], the controller of your personal data. Questions about privacy go to privacy@urlate.app.

What we collect

  • Your account: your email address, the name and username you choose, and a profile photo if you add one. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and name from them, and a technical identifier for your account.
  • Your entries and balances: the people and groups you keep track of, who was late, by how many minutes, notes you add, when it happened, and changes to entries (we keep earlier versions so nobody can quietly rewrite what happened).
  • Placeholder people: when you add someone who isn’t on Ur Late yet, you type a name for them. We store only that name. Please don’t put anything else about them in it.
  • Invites: the codes you create and when they’re used, including the personal code behind the QR on your profile (whoever uses it starts keeping track of minutes with you; you can replace it at any time). Someone who knows your exact username can send you an invite; there is no list of users to browse.
  • Share cards: when you share who owes whom, we keep a copy of the card as it was (the names on it, the minutes and the look you picked) at a public link.
  • Premium: if you subscribe, the App Store or Google Play tells us which subscription you bought, its status and its dates, and an identifier for the purchase. Payment happens in the store; we never see your payment details.
  • Rewarded ads: if you choose to watch an ad, Google AdMob tells us that you finished it, with an identifier for that ad view, so we can unlock the reward.
  • Technical data: like any server, ours records requests (including IP addresses) to keep the service running and to stop abuse, such as guessing invite codes.

We don’t sell your data. The only ads in Ur Late are the ones you choose to watch for a reward.

Why we use it

  • To run Ur Late for you (performance of our contract with you): your account, your entries and balances, invites, share cards, sign-in emails, and Premium if you buy it.
  • To show a rewarded ad you asked for: ads are not personalised unless you agree to it in the consent form shown before your first ad (your consent, which you can change in the app at any time).
  • To keep it secure (our legitimate interest): rate limits, abuse prevention and fixing problems.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as answering requests from you or authorities.

Who can see what

Everyone you keep track of together, whether two of you or a group, sees the same thing: each other’s names, usernames and photos, the entries and their history. People who open one of your invite links see your name, your photo and the minutes between you from their side, and nothing else. Anyone with a share card’s link sees that card. Invite and share pages are kept out of search engines.

Who helps us

We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf, under data processing agreements:

  • Hetzner Online (Germany): hosts our servers and database.
  • Amazon Web Services (Frankfurt, Germany): stores profile photos and backups, and sends our emails.
  • Apple and Google: if you choose Sign in with Apple or Google, and as the stores that sell Premium.
  • Google AdMob: shows the rewarded ads you choose to watch. With your consent it may use your device’s advertising identifier to personalise them; without it, ads are not personalised. On iPhone, Apple asks for your permission before any tracking.
  • Cloudflare: runs our domain’s DNS and forwards email sent to our addresses.

Your data is stored in the EU. AdMob, Apple and Google may process data outside the EU under the safeguards in their terms. We don’t use analytics or tracking. If we add crash reporting or analytics, we’ll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, entries and balances until you delete your account. Sign-in and deletion codes expire after a few minutes. Backups roll over and are deleted after 30 days.

Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a Premium subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings.

When you delete your account

You can delete your account in the app under Profile, or on our delete-account page. We delete your profile, sign-in methods and photo, the share cards from every person and group you keep track of, your Premium and reward records, and everything you keep track of where nobody else has an account, including the placeholder people in it. Where other people with an account are involved, you become a placeholder again so their entries, balances and history stay intact; your name there goes back to what they called you before you joined, or “Deleted account”.

Your rights

You can download a copy of your data yourself at any time: Profile → Download my data in the app gives you everything we keep about your account as one JSON file. You can also ask us for a copy, to correct your data, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Email privacy@urlate.app and we’ll answer within a month. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

Ur Late is for people aged 13 and over, or older where local law requires it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
